Did you know God has given us another tremendous opportunity to showcase Jesus — His Son — this Christmas? Jesus, the Savior of all humankind, came into the world as a baby lying in the manager and would later die on a cross to take away the sins of the whole world. As His ambassadors, we are responsible for sharing His story and demonstrating His love, compassion, and mercy to those who don't know Him.
As Christians, we make this vital task more complicated than necessary. Simply shining the light of Christ by showing acts of generosity and love can give a helping hand to those in desperate need of a Savior. Doing so helps others see that something is different within us. For example, they may notice that we smile more or are extra courteous, especially during the hustle and bustle of the holidays.
Here are two powerful Bible verses that show us how to shine brightly this season by demonstrating God's generosity and love living deep within us.
Hebrews 13:16 says, "Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God."
This verse encapsulates the simple meaning of generosity — sharing what God's given us with others — especially those we don't know.
In Matthew 5:16, Jesus said, "Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven."
This verse serves as a beacon, urging us, as believers, to radiate the warmth of God's love and grace to everyone we come in contact with. Even small gestures can count. As Christians, we only need a small amount of time, money, or effort to profoundly impact and showcase Christ's generosity and love, especially to those outside our inner circle during the holidays.
