Each holiday season often brings an unequal measure of cheer or chaos, leaving us to seek more Christmas Calm — a swirl of sweet and savory peace to manifest in our homes, businesses, and communities worldwide.
As Christ followers, Jesus already gave us HIs transformative gift of shalom or peace (John 14:27). Throughout various scriptures throughout the Bible, God commands us that we should not only seek inward peace but make every effort to become peacemakers. When we do, He gives us this eternal promise — “Blessed are the peacemakers, because they will be called sons of God.” (Matt. 5:9)
This season, we have the tremendous opportunity to experience more inner peace of Jesus and jingle our way to bless others as we unwrap and deck the halls with our God-given peace everywhere we go. So, are you looking for practical ways to contribute more peace during the next seven days leading up to Christmas? Here’s three ways:
1. Spread Positivity: Share uplifting messages, cheer, and goodwill when interacting with others in person or online. Remember that Jesus lives inside of you, so represent him well in how you show up — your attitude, how you treat others, and the words you choose.
2. Practice patience. Steer away from tension this season when picking up a holiday gift, waiting in line, navigating through a parking lot, or sitting down with family members at Christmas dinner. Give others grace and understanding because you never know what others may be going through behind the scenes.
3. Share a meal. Invite someone new or less fortunate to join you and your family at your holiday meal. Breaking bread with others fosters a sense of community and helps us share Jesus’s love in action.
